Reading and District Twins Plus Club
Who Are We?
Parents of twins set up the Reading and District Twins Plus Club approximately 15 years ago. It is a member of TAMBA (Twins and Multiple Births Association), a national charitable organisation that supports parents of multiples. We currently have 90 members, all of whom are families with twins or triplets; some families have more than one set of twins, many have other children.
We offer information and friendship to parents and carers of twins or more, who may often feel isolated, particularly in the early months and years of bringing up a multiple birth family.
Membership
Membership of the club is by a single payment of £10 which covers the whole family for a year.
Baby and toddler group
The Baby and Toddler group meets during term on Friday mornings (10 - 11.30am) at the Waterloo Meadows Children Centre on Elgar Road, Central Reading. The newsletter lists the term opening and closing dates. Please contact twins club for more information. For a map of the location, visit multimap.co.uk.
Newsletter, four times a year
Bringing you up to date news and views from parents with twins, articles of interest and advertising nearly new sales across Reading and Wokingham. Also contains a calendar of events. Please click here to see an example news letter from the past.
Regular Social Events, coffee mornings and evenings out
Regular social events are organised such as visits to farms and picnics. Each area representative will also organise coffee mornings and evenings out as well as Easter egg hunts and drinks evenings. These are open to everyone from all areas.
Christmas and Easter children's parties
Every Christmas and Easter there is a big party thrown for all the members' children. For a small ticket fee a children's entertainer is laid on as well as a party tea. Adults can enjoy the tom bola or raffle! These parties are open to all ages and have been very well attended and enjoyed over the past years.
Nearly new sales, three times a year
The nearly new sales are held three times a year at various locations around the Reading area. Items that are sold include quality clothing, toys and equipment. The hire of tables is open to any members for a very reasonable price!
Nearly new register of useful baby equipment
One of the committee members holds a register of nearly new equipment for sale. The member also has some items of equipment for hire i.e. Travel cots for a very small charge. This proves extremely useful for holidays or just to maybe try before you buy!
Library service of literature concerning multiple births and general parenting is available.
A Committee member also holds a library list of helpful and informative books on raising twins as well as general information books on child development.
Meet Other Parents
Perhaps the most important of these is the chance to meet other mums and dads who have been through it too and know what you're going through.
If you want more information on how to join the Reading and District Twins Plus Club please contact us.
The club exists to help families with multiple birth children, so please take advantage of what's to offer and become involved.
